cPanel Backup Wizard- Full Backup Generation

We all are aware of the importance of backups of our site’s data which will help us to recover in case of site hack, server failure etc… cPanel Allows us to back up the complete account data with one click.

cPanel has a Backup Wizard interface to generate a cPanel account backup from the user. The Backup Wizard interface allows you to back up all or part of your website, or to restore it from the most recent backup file.

cPanel Backups

A full cPanel backup is a copy of all of your files, email, databases, etc. Once initiated, you must allow some time to finish the backup. The server will send you an email to a specified address once the backup is ready to download.

These are the steps to generate and download backups through cPanel :

To generate a full backup in cPanel :

  • Log into cPanel. Refer to cPanel Login if you want to know how to login cPanel.
  • In Files section, click on ‘Backups’ icon.
  • Under the Full Backup section, click ‘Generate/ Download a Full Website Backup’.

  • On the next page, select the ‘Home Directory’ option from the Backup Destination drop-down menu.
  • For Email Address, select radio button if you wish to receive an email notification once the backup is complete. (You can change the notification email address in the provided field.)
  • Click on ‘Generate Backup’.

 

  • This will generate the back up for you and place the tar.gz file inside of your cPanel account home directory. You can then download the backup file via cPanel, FTP or SSH.

 

How to Download the Full Backup

 

To download the backup from cPanel:

  • Login to cPanel.
  • In the Files section, select the ‘Backups’ icon.
  • Under the Full Backup section, click ‘Generate/ Download a Full Website Backup’.
  • Under Backups Available for Download section, click the link for the backup file you wish to download.
  • Select a destination on your PC where you would like to save this backup file.
