Softaculous Installation in cPanel

Softaculous is an auto installer that allows you to install 350+ great scripts within a few clicks. Softaculous allows you to install WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, PrestaShop, Magento etc. within seconds. It can be installed on a Linux VPS or dedicated server with WHM/cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, InterWorx and H-Sphere control panel.

Softaculous Licenses 

Softaculous is available as a free to a premium auto installer. The premium auto-installer has a low price. Free license Softaculous consists of 55 scripts whereas the premium includes 410 scripts.

It’s easy to install Softaculous in cPanel. Let’s see how to install it.

First, make sure that your server meets the following requirements:

* WHM/cPanel is installed
* ionCube Loader is enabled

To enable ionCube Loader you need to log in to your WHM as root and navigate to Server Configuration > Tweak Settings > PHP. Check for ionCube as cPanel PHP loader and click on the Save button. That’s it.

Log in to your VPS or Dedicated server via SSH and follow the given steps one by one:

Install Softaculous

1) Download the package

wget -N http://files.softaculous.com/install.sh

2) Give an execute permission to file.

chmod 755 install.sh

3) Run installation.

./install.sh

To Verify installation

1) Go to your WHM panel.

2) Click on the ‘Plugins’ option.

3) Click on ‘Softaculous – Instant Installs’.

4) You will get the following webpage if the installation was successful.

Quick Installation

If you want to do a quick installation then download the script packages in the background and use this method.

Make sure you have enabled Ioncube loader on the server. Then SSH to your server and enter the following commands:

wget -N http://files.softaculous.com/install.sh
chmod 755 install.sh
./install.sh --quick

Don’t use 3rd Party PHP

If you do not want Softaculous to use 3rd Party PHP binary then you can just pass a parameter within a command and Softaculous will use cPanel’s default PHP binary.

wget -N http://files.softaculous.com/install.sh
chmod 755 install.sh
./install.sh --nocpphp

Using Proxy settings

If you want Softaculous to use proxy settings then you can just pass the proxy parameters. Then Softaculous will use the same proxy setting.

wget -N http://files.softaculous.com/install.sh
chmod 755 install.sh
./install.sh proxy proxy_ip=YOUR_IP:PORT proxy_auth=USERNAME:PASSWORD

Proxy parameters  are as follows :

  • proxy_ip (Required): Enter your Proxy server’s IP address and port.
  • proxy_auth (optional): Use the proxy server’s authentication details i.e. Username and Password
